D is for Double...

Image
So, as I blogged about- we have hopes of building a LARGE built in in our family room .  This will be great as we desperately need the storage and I love all things built in!    When the built in is complete we plan to replace our family room furniture.  Our current couch and loveseat have truly seen better days!  I bought it cheaply in my single days it the cushions are saggy and lumpy.  The worst part is that the light khaki color is now dirty and spotted and dingy! I will be more practical in my next couch purchase and go with something easy to spot clean and darker in color (likely chocolate brown).  Something that will hide dirty fingerprints!   I also want to maximize the space and put in as much seating as we can.  This means that I want to get rid of couch and loveseat and replace with double couches and maybe two chairs!  I love the double couch look... especially when you have a huge room.  Who does not want more seating!?...

S is for swimsuit...

Image
Yes, swimsuit weather will be here before you know it!  Last summer I was pregnant, so this summer will be a "new season" in so many respects.  My bikini days are over.... even if I was happy wearing one, I cannot imagine carrying a baby around and being "active" in a bikini.  I am a practical gal! I bought a cute bathing suit at Target a few years ago and was happy to see it back again in a tankini version and in a myriad of colors!  I had bought the black one a few years ago.  I now just bought the purple one (my favorite color) in the tankini version.  It is super cute- you can wear the strap (or not).  I think it is retro and hip and still cool for a young mom (well not that young). There are other colors (slate, pink, red, teal) and also versions in stripes or polka dots!  For $34.99 (one piece) or &19.99 (tankini top) or $17.99 (bikini bottom).  I think it is practical, yet stylish!  Get a few!   Until next time.....xoxo

R is for random!

Image
Okay... it has been a rough week, hence no blog posts.  I am going to try to get my butt back in blogging gear next week!  In the meantime I am digging into my "files" where I save random photos that I like.   How cute are these wall fish tanks?  Could be so cute in a playroom or kids room! Neither of these photos "style" the fish bowls in a cool way, but there is so much possibility!  Okay, that is my random post.  Next week I will get it together... promise! :) Until next time...xoxo

S... Spice it up!

Image
Okay, I thought the "nesting" thing was pregnancy specific.  I nested HEAVILY in my last weeks of pregnancy- wanting to organize, sort and label everything!  But, although my time is limited... my desire to organize and sort is still strong! I recently wanted to deal with my spices.  They were a "hot mess" in my cabinet!   I always had to go digging to find the spice I was looking for.  And, my pantry door was screaming to be used for something.   I like to make the most of space and  I had wanted a magnetic spice rack for a quite a while.  The racks I saw online were expensive , so I got a bit creative.  I sent the husband to Home Depot and had him get me a magnetic piece of sheet metal. Cost $15.  I then did a massive google search to find small magnet tins.  I ended up finding the perfect spice tins at Pfaltzgraff .  They are $3.99 for 3 tins.  I googled a promo code and got them all 15% off and free shipping.   ...

P is for perfect!

So, as I mentioned previously- the husband is currently working on building two daybeds in our "finished" basement room.  This room was "man town" but the husband never spent time down there.  Use it or loose it.  So, now I want to turn that room into a guest room/playroom.  I have been looking for the perfect bedding for the daybeds that would be fun (playroom) yet not too kiddy for a guest room.  During my last days of my maternity leave I found it was perusing Home Goods with my mom.  As usual- it was  great deal.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE Home Goods. Now, I should add that I had bought a different set of bedding with a zillion coordinating pillows that the husband hated and made me immediately return.  This was my 2nd attempt and luckily it passed!   I think the polka dots are fun but the colors make it gender neutral and soothing.  The opposite side has coordinating stripes which I have a fun plan for!   Now that I have bedding I...

I is for Inspiration...

I love this feature wall.  Usually I am not into feature walls, but in this case... LOVE IT!  I stumbled across this photo in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.  I could not find this photo on their website so sorry for my bad photo taken of the magazine page. As you know, I did a Board and Batten project in my master bedroom.  I have gotten lots of compliments on it!  I like a project that adds character to a house!  I have also admired exposed board walls like the one Miss Mustard Seed created.  Unfortunately, the exposed board look does not really go with the style of our house which has a lot of molding, wainscotting, etc.   I think it is a little too casual for our home.  If we had a cape or bungalow it would be great, but our Royal Barry Wills colonial calls for something else. I have this idea saved in the back of my mind if we ever finish our attic or perhaps for Avery's room when she gets older! :)  You cannot really see the ...

L.B.D..... Little Black Dress!

Image
Even though I basically missed this whole winter as I was locked inside my house in sweatpants, I cannot wait for spring!  I was pregnant last spring/summer so I lived in maternity clothes.  I am eagerly awaiting the warm weather when you can put on dresses and skirts (sans tights), get a pedicure and whip out cute sandals! I think I have mentioned before that Talbots is rocking these days.  Like J Crew and Ann Taylor- they seem to have an updated hip look.  They used to be kind of "mom-ish", but now they are chic and stylish.   Check out these perfect little black dresses that I have my eye on! Spring... have you sprung?  Probably not.  My husband took his snow tires off this past weekend which can only mean we are in for at least one more big storm! :)  Until next time....xoxo

L is for Lonny....

Here is what caught my eye! ooh... la la... banquette Love me some mirrored built-ins! I love the window valance! This gives wood paneling a new name! Enjoy the weekend... hope you get some time to check out Lonny!  Until next time...xoxo

M is for Month-to-Month!

Image
Okay... again, sorry for the delay in posting!  I am trying to balance it all and regardless to say... its challenging. Today Avery is 3 months old!!!  She starts daycare tomorrow and I go back to work on Friday!   Like many other mom bloggers ( Young House Love , Making It Lovely and others), I am taking monthly photos of Avery.  Other bloggers add the month text with photoshop.  I knew I would never have time for such a thing and would lose track of what photo is what, so I bought stickers.  I got mine here at Esty.  She ( Belles Buttons ) sells lots different styles and colors, so there is something for everyone.    It is amazing to see the changes... even in just 3 months!  My baby is getting so big!!! She is a mini version of my husband, but hope she will start looking more like me as she gets older! :)  Bear with me as  I try to balance being working mom blogger!  This might be erratic for a few eUntil next time......

P is for perfect!

Image
Sorry for the delayed posting today.  I did not have a "perfect" day yesterday.  Avery who is typically a chill baby screamed her head off all evening.  After trying to soothe for hours until my husband curled into the fetal position and cried "make it stop".  I tried to be strong but eventually started tearing my hair out.  We made our first trip to the ER.  Now, Avery is fine.  Likely just the start of a head cold.  $150 bucks later.... we felt kind of stupid.  But, better safe than sorry.  She has NEVER cried that much, so at least we now know! Okay, tired of winter and thinking of warmer days.... I came across this PERFECT jean skirt at Anthropologie.  I LIVE in denim skirts in the summer (I do not wear or own shorts) which I talked about in a previous post .  My favorite denim skirt was a maternity skirt I lived in last summer.  You can see it here ! Is this cute or what?  The best part... it is cheaper than ...
